What is Corporate Photography?

Not all photography is the same. The various types of situations people want photographed often call for a specific style; thus, specialist photographers came to be. Some photographers specialize in portraits, others in candid shots, some in weddings and some in modeling and headshots. Corporate photography is another photography specialty. Corporate photographers are contracted by companies to photograph a variety of situations including headshots, office and architectural shots, corporate and event photography etc. These photos are then used in advertising and marketing materials, brochures, websites, annual reports, social media and more. Businesses in Boston turn to professional corporate photographers to help them stand out from the competition. Imagery can speak volumes to clients, investors and even potential staff about the quality of services and products, the company culture and the standards of day-to-day business practices. Nikki Cole is an experienced, professional Boston corporate photographer who is called upon to shoot corporate events, headshots, architectural images and more. Always Check Your Photographer’s Reviews

When you’re hiring a photographer for a special event, you only have one chance to get it right. The photographer only has one chance to get it right, too. That’s why it’s important you select the right photographer who has the experience, knowledge, skill and style to get it right. After all, in many cases it would be almost impossible to recreate the event, just to grab better photographs. It’s likely you’ll be selecting your photographer based on their portfolio and past experience. Keep in mind, what they’re sharing with you are the highlights of their career. A portfolio is the best-of that a photographer has to share. So, how can you ensure that the photographer you hire for your corporate event or corporate headshots is going to deliver on their promise? Check their reviews! In today’s digital landscape, online review websites make it easy to discover what other people think about a person or a service. One of the great things about reviews is you can learn about potential problems or weaknesses, but also about how the photographer dealt with the issue. One important caveat when it comes to reviews is that it seems to be human nature to […]

There’s a lot that goes into planning a fundraising event. One detail that should not be overlooked is photography. Tips for Getting Your Portraits Done

Have you ever seen those posed portraits where the families are all wearing matching outfits? The portraits look nice; however, when sometimes they can seem contrived. When it comes to capturing families or corporate portraits, the goal is to capture the spirit and personality from within, rather than try and create it. Color of Clothing – While you could have everyone wearing matching outfits, it can look too staged. Instead, consider a color or shade and have everyone wear an element of clothing with that color or shade. Or, consider a tone. For instance, bright or muted colors. People do not have to wear the same thing to look good in a portrait. In fact, if they are wearing something they like and are comfortable in, they will feel better which can make a difference. Hairstyle – Consider the theme or purpose of the photograph and style your hair appropriately. Well-done, tidy hair styles photograph well. That being said, your portrait should always look like you, which means now is not the time to try out a new style or color. Make-up – The right makeup can look fabulous in a photograph. Again, it is all about what you want […]

Location, Location, Location

Whether you’re planning the event of the year, a conference or a place for your corporate headshots, location matters. In fact, for many, location is everything! What does this mean? Well, location sets the tone. It is the backdrop, acue, for what you want to convey. Your location will live on in the photographs; that’s why it is important to hire an experienced photographer who knows the area. This way, they know the right angle at the right time. Often, the way the light comes through a certain window at just the right time can truly make a photograph. Nikki Cole is an experienced photographer who often finds herself in the Boston area. Client Spotlight – Boston CASA

I’m always excited to work with  a new photography client, but this particular project has moved past photography.  While looking for meaningful, long-term volunteer opportunities, I found Boston CASA.  CASA’s (Court Appointed Special Advocates) mission is to ensure a safe and permanent home for court-involved children in Suffolk County who have experienced abuse and neglect.  Volunteers spend time with children in the Foster system to help ensure their safety and provide an aspect of consistency in their lives.  CASA felt like a perfect fit for me.  So I approached them for volunteer opportunities.  In the process, we realized we were a great fit for photography as well!   Professional headshots make a difference in any business website.  They create a clean look and help businesses project an organized and expert image.  Great looking headshots or portraits also help insert personality into standard business websites and social media pages.  Non-profit organizations also need to project professionalism to win the confidence or potential donors.  The staff at Boston CASA wanted to set their website apart with clean, consistent images of their staff.  I was honored to visit their office and create those headshots.  Take a look at these beautiful beautiful faces! I’m […]

Julian Edelman Reads Flying High – Newton, Massachusetts

I love it when a photography job makes my dad excited.  He’s been most excited about my jobs with the Red Sox.  But I believe I’ve hit a new high for him.  I had the pleasure of photographing the one and only Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman.  Julian recently wrote a children’s book called Flying High.  As part of his book release, he did a reading for the folks from the PJ Library at the Newton JCC.  Julian started with a an intimate group of children.  The kids were just enthralled with him.  Being a new dad himself, I think Julian enjoyed it as well!  After the private reading, he greeted a much larger group of fans (adults and children alike)  in the auditorium for a much larger reading. After the event, Julian was kind enough to stick around to sign some of his books and other memorabilia.  It was a blast capturing this fun event.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the day!
